I snap. “Then I’m doing something reckless. Maybe kissing someone I shouldn’t. Maybe getting a tattoo. Maybe dancing on a table and throwing my phone into the ocean. The world is my oyster.”

He laughs, revealing perfect teeth. Damn it, it's a good laugh - deep and warm and entirely too charming. He lifts his glass in a slow, amused toast. “I fully support every part of that plan.”

“You’re enjoying this too much,” I mutter, though my mouth twitches.

He shrugs. “Can’t help it. You’re like watching a rom com in reverse.”

“I’m not the heroine,” I say flatly. “I’m the girl who gets dumped in the montage so the hero can chase someone better.”

“Yeah?” he says, leaning in. “Because I’m looking at you, and all I see is the main event.”
